This teaching explains why we study the Torah and why we must not add to or diminish from what is written. Also explained are the four traditional levels of understanding the scriptures: Peshat, Remez, Midrash, and Sod. The acronym of these four levels spells out the Hebrew word PaRDeS which means Orchard. Studying the Torah is like eating from the Tree of Life in the orchard of the Lord.
